Biography | |
I was born in Omaha, Neb., in 1947, to parents who encouraged and inspired me to stretch-out with my feelings and abilities, Thus I began to paint. My first attempts at painting were with the Paint-by-number type of paintings, but, I could not be bothered to stay within the lines so I usually ended up mixing the colors in ways I do not think anyone ever intended and painted what I wanted.
While still attending High School I studied art at Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa; the local High School could no longer meet my needs. Upon graduation, I had intended to attend the Minneapolis School of Fine Arts in Minnesota, but Vietnam changed a lot of plans during those years. I spent the next 25 years moving around the globe while enlisted in the United States Air Force until my retirement in 1991.
After retirement, my wife Kathy and I relocated to the Yuba/Sutter area, her family home, where I worked in retail sales for the next few years. Eventually I attended Yuba Community College; and went on to earn my BA with honors in Business Administration at California State University at Sacramento in 1999. After graduating I worked for a few more years in retail sales management until I became to disabled to work due to my military service in 2003.
It was during this period of transition that Kathy encouraged me to return to my dream of being an artist. Thus, I began in earnest to apply myself to my re-education of skills that have long been dormant. I painted dozens of canvases, giving my work to friends and family until I had arrived to what you can see of my work today. At the urging of my wife, Kathy and my close friends and family, all who have suggested that my work is good enough to sell; I am now venturing into the commercial sale of my work.
I hope you enjoy what you see, and buy what you like.
